For the first time this season, the LFSP standings have a clear top. Nguyenning and The McGriddle Stack are both 5–2 after Week 7, one full game clear of a five-team pile at 4–3, and they play each other in Week 8. The league spent six weeks without a clear leader. It now has two.
Andy Nguyen's Nguyenning beat Rashee-d For Speed, 137.06 to 109.08, for its fourth straight win and holds the league's best scoring total at 956.84. Brett Pinholster's McGriddle Stack outlasted Dart Side of The Beer Mile, 132.64 to 122.80, for its third straight, and has allowed the second fewest points in the league. The model projects Nguyenning to win the head-to-head by 41 points. The model has been wrong before.
The bigger story of the week was Andrew Wendt's Dakstreets Back, Alright!, who scored 153.82, the highest total of the week, and beat Stephen Liao's Javaris Jamarr Javarison-Lamar by 18.04. Javaris scored 135.78 and still has the second best offense in the league. It also has a 4–3 record. The scoring says one thing and the standings say another, and the standings are the ones that count.
At the other end, defending champion Courtney Stevens's All Gas No Drakes lost its third straight, 96.76 to 69.20, to Myers Diggs Type GFYS. Chris Slagh won despite starting Ted Hurst III, who scored 0.0 and earned a shotgun. Andrew Wendt's DeVonta Smith, projected for 0.0, scored 0.0 and earned the other. Jeff Marsicano's Chasing Last Place scored 145.44 in an 82.54-point rout of Achane Reaction, and Alan Costanzi's Sacrificial Lamb notched its second win of the year, 135.92 to 123.74, at Bass To Mouth.
The result is a league with a top, a bottom, and a very large middle. Five teams are 4–3. Three more are 3–4. Week 8 opens with the game that decides who is in front.
